The Magick of Seasonal Eating - November

There is a story behind everything that I do, often it’s words or a picture that starts to simmer in the back of my mind until it is ready to be born into a piece of my life.

Years ago I stumbled across the ideas of Slow Food and Traditional Foods, and something in there spoke to me, the idea of slowing down and being intentional with my food and my cooking was the beginning of my journey of Kitchen Magick, and cooking magickally.

Food and cooking for others has always been my love language, blessing my friends and family with their favorite foods, and creating magickal meals for everyone delights and recharges me. So making the choice to move towards slowing down and eating in season felt right.

At its core, seasonal eating means that you’re eating fresh produce at a time of year when it’s naturally ready for harvest and the essence of cooking magickally is slowing down and taking the time to prepare a delicious and healthy meal. Seasonal eating calls you back to the kitchen and allows you to weave the connections between the food on your table and the bounty of the harvest.

November brings blustery days with chilly nights and the urge to slow down and move our focus inward towards hearth and home. November is, in my opinion, the best eating month of the year. The foods that are abundant in autumn are cozy, comforting, and warming.

Kitchen Magick and magickal eating is about pleasure, slowing down, the nuances of the meal, a bit of sensuality, celebration, connection, and an experience steeped in quiet magick. If you are feeling called to walk the path of the Kitchen Witch, or just looking to add some magick to your daily round, eating seasonally is a nourishing way to start.
